The TBWA building is a landmark building. A unified volume enclosed by a sleek glass curtain wall and cassettes of Corten steel, designed by ZZDP Architects. Inside, it is a spacious, elegant commercial building with surprising elements.
The large office floors of the TBWA Building with areas as large as 1,800 m2 could be kept completely open thanks to the application of a sprinkler system. An atrium with stairs in the heart of the building provides interaction between the users on the different floors. To create spaciousness and a loft-like quality appropriate to the creative industry, a gross floor height of four meters was realized. The office building has a total area of approximately 8,000 m² GFA.
Corten steel corset
The character is mainly formed by the use of materials, which refers to the industrial atmosphere of the area. Cassettes of Corten steel form a continuous band around the building. The band begins against the façade, to gradually make more space for window washing and eventually ends in a spacious continuous balcony facing south, which also acts as sun protection.
A system of Heat Cold Storage is used to cool and heat the building.
Magisterial staircase
Inside, the building provides several surprises. Through a modest reception hall, a visitor enters a magisterial space surrounding a wooden stairwell cum stage cum meeting place in the core. Noorderlicht reaches down to the first floor thanks to sawtooth roofs. Both vertically and horizontally, this warm wooden core acts as a beating heart. Colleagues can bump into each other at unexpected moments or catch a glimpse of each other from another floor.
Around that wooden core, the workspaces are tall and white, with few columns. Shielded work and meeting rooms have been created on some facades, and otherwise there are mainly office gardens.
Parking Cathedral
Also luxurious is the parking garage. The architect calls it a "parking cathedral. A semiautomatic parking system stacks the cars of employees and visitors in three layers, so that about a hundred cars can be parked in a relatively small space. This avoided the costly construction of a basement.
The building involves a design by ZZDP Architects.
Amstelius carried out the project management, project management and delivery of the project on behalf of the building owner during its realization. Afterwards, Amstelius performed property management until 2018.
